"John Yamrus is a master of short form poetry. After reading this new collection of poems, I wasn't surprised that every single poem in this book was as good, if not better, than anything I've read by him in the past." -Charles Joseph, Indigent Press "John Yamrus is a reader's writer whose poems are built from one honest line after another. I Admit Nothing, again and again, captures the profundity within the everyday trials and triumphs that make up a life. A wholly accessible book; fierce, friendly, urgent, optimistic and long lasting." -Matthew J. Hall, Screaming With Brevity "In a world full of those who call themselves poets and pussyfoot around with clever linguistic tricks, John Yamrus stands out like a bloodied hunk of bone-sparing of the word and using just what is needed to get to the core, his poems cut deep to the heart of what matters challenging the reader and poetry itself to face the truth." -Adrian Manning, Concrete Meat Press

After reading *Alchemy* by the same author, this book will seem short ... but it represents more from John Yamrus and this is good -- this is great! I have very much become accustomed to John's style of writing poetry (no titles -- in each poem the first line in bold print de facto serves to say that a new poem starts on this page) and this "style" has inspired me to write a few this way myself (not that this matters) ...We are not all going to like the same thing when it comes to poetry (for example, "academic poetry", to use this term, has no soul in my eyes) and we are not going to relate to every poem by a poet we like/love ... but I like a lot of John's poems ... and some of them are gems ... at least one poem in this collection is probably one of the best he has ever created (in my eyes) ... I recommend John Yamrus to anyone who is interested in seeing what writing can be right now ... in the twenty-first century ... and I would also recommend checking out *Alchemy* too ... DaP

I Admit Nothing John Yamrus 9781926860534 Books Reviews
As another reviewer said, I just read Yamrus's "Alchemy," which is a good primer for "I Admit Nothing." The poems in this collection are beautiful, direct, and often startling.
I Admit Nothing is another masterpiece from the unrivaled John Yamrus. Filled with raw, untold tales, I Admit Nothing once again welcomes the readers into John's world and reminds us to appreciate the little things in life. To call John merely unique is a bit of an insulting understatement. His poetry is completely uninhibited. To read Yamrus' insightful work is to have to opportunity to hop in the driver’s seat while taking (many) short drives through this thing called 'life'. He ability to grab the reader and pull them in *entirely* seems surprisingly effortless. With each poem - including the darker stories - comes an untold tale, often with a jab of blunt, sarcastic humor to provide a few laughs. Thanks, John, for letting us in! Cheers!

really liked it
John Yamrus has the ability to tell an infinity of stories all within a single sentence. His ability to both hold the readers attention and completely shock them is truly uncanny. Yamrus' "I Admit Nothing" is filled with lost dreams and broken promises, he admits to being a lover, a fighter and a man, all while exposing the reader to personal vulnerability of his inner thoughts. A very quick read, but his poems stay with the reader for long after the slim volume is finished. A dream, to write this well.
